Veil processes images locally. It does not upload image pixels or recognized text to an OCR server.
Image processing
Opening, pasting, scanning, covering and exporting images happen in this browser. Exported PNGs are redrawn without original EXIF metadata.
Local OCR files
Scans load the engine and selected language models from this site, and your browser may cache them. No model is loaded just by changing the interface language.
Accounts, ads and tracking
Veil has no accounts, ads or behavioral analytics. A hosting service can receive normal connection information when serving files, but no image content.
Language preference
Only interface and default OCR language preferences are saved in localStorage. Images, OCR text and covers are not stored there. Switching still works when storage is blocked.
When you close the tab
Images and covers are held in page memory. Closing, reloading or leaving the page clears this session. Downloaded files remain on your device; OCR models and your language preference may remain cached or saved.
Important limitation
Automatic detection can miss sensitive details. Review the entire image before sharing. Use Blackout for confidential text; blur and pixelation may be reversible.
